Michigan Basketball Red Hot Wolverines Unstoppable Heading into Final 4

Michigan destroyed the Florida Gators in the Elite Eight and the Wolverines are playing their best basketball heading into the Final Four of the 2013 NCAA tournament.

This team is unstoppable and it has the players and the momentum to continue its winning ways all the way to the 2013 NCAA championship.

Michigan's 20 point annihilation of Florida was accomplished despite the fact that Trey Burke and Tim Hardaway Jr. couldn't buy a bucket for most of the game as Yahoo Sports' Dan Wetzel pointed out just before the final buzzer

Freshman phenom Mitch McGary didn't have his best game either scoring just 11 points against Florida after posting marks of 25 and 21 points in his two previous contests.

Florida had the right game plan heading into this contest Don't let Hardaway Burke and McGary score at will.

Florida's defense had given up just under 54 points in its first three games of the tournament matching the team's seasonal average the No. 3 scoring defense in the NCAA this past season. Yet Michigan was able to dismantle Florida's defense to the tune of 79 points.

Freshman guard Nik Stauskas had been relatively quiet in Michigan's first three games averaging just nine points per contest. As Florida focused on shutting down Burke McGary and Hardaway he found himself wide open on the perimeter and he drained all six of his attempts.

Just as impressive was the fact that Michigan was able to match Florida on the glass forcing 13 steals and five blocks all while turning the ball over just nine times.

Michigan's defense was the one that dominated which is a scary thought considering the Wolverines' offensive outpouring in this tournament.

Syracuse is up next for Michigan and the Orange did a phenomenal job of shutting down Marquette's offense in the Elite Eight to the tune of just 39 points. That said the Golden Eagles don't have nearly the same depth on offense that Michigan does.

The Wolverines are peaking at the right time to finish strong in their final two games. This team has the momentum it needs to defeat Syracuse setting up a what will likely be an epic championship game against either Duke or Louisville.

After watching this team put up 79 points against one of the most dominant defenses in the nation it's hard to imagine the Wolverines not finishing the deal and winning this year's ultimate prize.
