Dallas Mavericks Could Have to Consider Nate Robinson

Steve Mitchell USA TODAY Sports

There are a few things that the Dallas Mavericks are going to need before next season begins. The first order of business would be finding a point guard. It may be worth Dallas considering the idea of looking into bringing in Nate Robinson from free agency. Robinson has had a great season for the Chicago Bulls and will be a free agent at the end of this season. There will be people who want to see Dallas go after Chris Paul including myself but the more realistic plan would involve Robinson.

Robinson is leading the Bulls in scoring right now in the postseason averaging 17.4 points per game. He averaged 13.1 points a game during the regular season while adding over four assists on average per contest. It s not like he s going to be terribly old next season either since he will only be 29 years old. I would believe that the Mavericks could offer Robinson a two or three year contract that is worth around $9 million. I m not positive that Robinson wants to take a deal like that but the Mavericks have to at least try it.

This is a Dallas team that finished 41 41 this season and could use a point guard who can score and will dish the ball to players like Dirk Nowitzki and O.J. Mayo if he decides to come back. There were going to be changes made with the Mavericks anyway this offseason. A move to try to sign Robinson could be the first step towards Dallas getting back in the playoff chase next season.
